![]() ![]() Tong had been prepping a time travel movie set in ancient China, and Chan had wanted to work on a third film for his Indiana Jones-like franchise "The Armor of God." They ended up combining the two projects into "The Myth." Consequently, it feels like two very different films. Perhaps the reason for this is because the genesis of this project started as two films. The past and present mix together like oil and water. In the modern day setting, Chan plays an archaeologist who’s haunted by dreams of the past involving that love affair. In ancient China, Chan plays a general who is involved in a forbidden love affair with his emperor’s consort. The only thing connecting the two time periods is that Chan plays a character in each of them. It zips back and forth between ancient China and modern times. The story’s pretty shaky, even though Chan had been able to overcome that in the past. Featuring Bollywood actress, Mallika Sherawat (Kis Kis Ki Kismat, Guru).Jackie Chan does another collaboration with director Stanley Tong, who helmed some of his most commercially successful Hong Kong films (" Rumble in the Bronx," " Supercop"), for the sci-fi adventurer " The Myth." Unfortunately, this time, they end up with a turkey. In order to solve the mystery behind his dream, Jack begins a quest for truth which ultimately gets him lost between the past and the present. Through a series of strange and provocative dreams, Jack sees himself reincarnated as Meng Yi, a general who fell for the first emperor's beautiful consort. When an ancient sword and a magical gemstone are uncovered in India the booty leads Jack (Chan) and an ambitious scientist to the mausoleum. Over the next 2,000 years historians, tomb-raiders and happy-go-lucky adventurers alike had been honing in on the royal treasure, however, no one had ever succeeded in location the entrance to the mausoleum.until now. Legend has it that to ensure utmost secrecy, all those who worked on the project were buried alive with the dead emperor. Through the prodigious endeavors of more than 700,000 forced labourers, the mausoleum was completed 37 years later. In 221 BC Qin Shihuang - the first emperor of China - started to build a royal tomb for himself despite his infatuation with immortality. Martial arts legend Jackie Chan stars in this mystical, fantasy adventure as an intrepid archaeologist, Jack, who sets out on an adventure that would lead to the greatest discovery in Chinese history. ![]()
